Howbert Pedestrian Bridge Installation: May 27-July 19

From May 27-July 19, the City of Colorado Springs will install a new pedestrian bridge across the concrete drainage channel in front of Howbert Elementary School (map on reverse). The new bridge will be six feet wide and ADA-accessible, with ramps on the bridge and receiving ramps on either side of the street. The old pedestrian bridge, located ~40 feet south of the new bridge site, was hit by a car in 2024 and severely damaged. It will be removed as part of this construction.

NB and SB 31st Street will be closed from May 27–July 19. Access will remain for all homes at all times. 30th Street is the suggested detour.

Intermittent weekend closures through mid-September will be needed for final bridge installation and existing bridge removal. These closures will be limited to weekend-only work once school starts. Local message boards will display current closures.
