Contract Security Agency License
A contract security agency is any person who, for a fee or other consideration, provides or agrees to provide the services of a private security officer on a contractual basis to another person or entity.
Security services are those services which include, but are not limited to, the prevention of burglary, robbery, theft, shoplifting, criminal mischief, arson, assault or trespass and the observation, investigation, detection and/or reporting of incidents to prevent or deter any unlawful or unauthorized activity, the control, regulation or direction of the flow or movements of persons on private property, whether by vehicle, by foot or otherwise.

- Annual license fee: $110
- Late renewal fee: $55
- Duplicate license fee: $5
Security Licenses are valid for one (1) year from the date of issuance or renewal.
The City Clerk's Office accepts cash, check, money order, Visa and MasterCard.

- Proof of age over eighteen (18)
- Business License Application
- Color images of uniforms and vehicles
- Certificate of Commercial General Liability Insurance with the City of Colorado Springs listed as the certificate holder ($1,000,000)
- Workers' Compensation and Employers' Liability Insurance with the City of Colorado Springs listed as the certificate holder ($100,000)
- Automotive Liability Insurance with the City of Colorado Springs listed as the certificate holder ($500,000)
- Trade Name Registration and Certificate of Good Standing with Colorado Secretary of State, if applicable.
- Transfer Application (To be completed when transferring from one agency to another)

Private Security Officer License
A private security officer is a person employed or engaged by a private security agency to provide security services. This definition shall apply to the owner, agent or principal of a contract security agency who also performs security services for any contract security agency.
Security services are those services which include, but are not limited to, the prevention of burglary, robbery, theft, shoplifting, criminal mischief, arson, assault or trespass and the observation, investigation, detection and/or reporting of incidents to prevent or deter any unlawful or unauthorized activity, the control, regulation or direction of the flow or movements of persons on private property, whether by vehicle, by foot or otherwise.

- Additional license fee (if working for more than one agency): $15
- Change of employer fee (if transferring to a new agency): $15
- Duplicate license fee: $5

- Certificate of Completion from Security Officer Training Program as outlined in Supplemental Application
- Transfer Application (To be completed when transferring from one agency to another)
- For Firearm Endorsement, a Certificate of Completion of a Firearm Safety and Familiarization Course as outlined in Supplemental Application
- For Concealed Firearm Endorsement, an additional Certificate of Concealed Carry Training Course as outlined in Supplemental Application
- For a Conductive Energy Weapon (CEW) Endorsement, a Certificate of Completion of an approved CEW Safety Familiarization Training Program as outlined in Supplemental Application.
- Discharge of CEW or Firearm Report (To be completed by Security Officer by the end of the next business day following the discharge of a weapon. )
