Overview
Construction on Grey Hawk Park will gradually ramp up from March through May and is anticipated to continue until late Fall 2025.
Please be aware that there will be restricted access to the park site during construction, with traffic control measures changing as needed based on ongoing activities. You can expect large trucks to be present, navigating the neighborhood at various times. We kindly request that you DO NOT ENTER THE PARK SITE once construction begins.
In March, work will begin in the Natural Vegetation Area with a focus on fire mitigation and soft surface trail enhancements on the park's west side. This will be completed both mechanically and by hand while the ground is still partially frozen, minimizing disturbance to the sandy soils. The work is designed to reduce fire fuels and promote the health of the oak stands by thinning old growth. Fire mitigation efforts are essential for reducing wildfire risks by removing excess vegetation that can fuel fires, thereby protecting ecosystems and enhancing community safety.
About
The master plan process to design and develop Grey Hawk Neighborhood Park (4.47 Acre) was approved by the Colorado Springs Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Advisory Board in March 2024. This undeveloped neighborhood park asset came to the city in 2007 through the park land dedication ordinance. The park is located at 950 Spectrum Loop (Lot 276 Grey Hawk at North Gate Filing No. 1) within the Northgate Master Plan and Grey Hawk subdivision on the north side of Colorado Springs, CO and can be accessed from either Northgate Blvd or Voyager Parkway.
The City of Colorado Springs Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department (PRCS) hired The Architerra Group to support the design process. The goal was to develop a vision for the new neighborhood park that was driven by resident input and addressed the needs and desires of the community. The public plays a vital role in shaping the future of our parks and open spaces and we thank you for your participation in the design of Grey Hawk Park.

Outreach/ Meeting information
The six month master plan public outreach process included three public meetings with two online surveys so that surrounding neighbors and the public at large could participate in the process and inform the master plan design.
Public Meeting #3- Draft Master Plan
During the third and final neighborhood public meeting, we went over the proposed park master plan design based upon project goals, public survey feedback, public standards, existing topography and vegetation, and project budget.
