On November 30, 2022, the Colorado Springs Police Department’s Crimes Against Children Unit was notified of a deceased 4-year-old child. The child had been transported to a local hospital by their mother and her boyfriend after being found unresponsive at their residence.
An autopsy was conducted, and in March 2023, the El Paso County Coroner’s Office ruled the child’s manner of death to be a homicide.
In the following months, detectives conducted an exhaustive investigation, including the preparation of search warrants, reviewing medical records, and conducting numerous interviews.
On January 5, 2024, Crimes Against Children Detectives applied for and were granted an arrest warrant for the child’s mother, identified as Raven Rudd, a 25-year-old resident of Colorado Springs. Ms. Rudd was arrested for Child Abuse – Recklessly Resulting in Death, a Class 2 Felony.
On January 5, 2024, Crimes Against Children Detectives located Ms. Rudd and took her into custody without incident. A booking photo of Ms. Rudd is located below.
