The City of Colorado Springs today announced that Kevin Walker has been selected as the planning director following a national search and selection process. He will oversee comprehensive planning, urban planning, land use review and the development review enterprise. Walker’s selection is pending City Council confirmation.
Walker has been serving as interim planning director for the City since June. He has had a successful career providing management services and working with homeowner’s associations in the Pikes Peak region. He has a master’s degree in city planning from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
“The City is committed to intelligent growth and development, and vibrant neighborhoods, and our planning department plays an important role in this work,” said Mayor Yemi Mobolade. “Over the past several months, Kevin has proven to be the effective leader we need to guide the City Planning team in meeting the evolving needs and challenges of our growing community and to serve our residents and customers well. We are excited to add Kevin’s experience and expertise to our City team.”
