On August 17, 2023, the El Paso County Coroner’s Office completed the autopsy for the deceased individual, identified as a juvenile male. His death has been ruled a homicide.
This is the 18th homicide investigation in the City of Colorado Springs in 2023. The CSPD investigated 30 homicides at this time last year.
Also on August 17, 2023, 18-year-old Tre’Shun Robertson was arrested and charged with Attempted Aggravated Robbery and Conspiracy to commit Aggravated Robbery.

On August 16, 2023, at approximately 4:38 AM, the Colorado Springs Police Department’s Communications Center received a call of a shooting near the 1800 block of Zebulon Drive that started out as an attempted armed robbery. The victim of the robbery reported he was confronted by an armed suspect, who displayed a firearm and demanded personal property from him. The armed suspect was with two other males. The victim of the attempted robbery was armed with a firearm and fired his weapon at least one time, striking and killing one of the suspects. The robbery victim then called 911 to report the shooting.
The Colorado Springs Police Homicide Unit responded to the scene to investigate. While the Coroner’s Office will determine the cause and manner of death, it is being investigated as a homicide. One juvenile male was arrested and charged with Attempted Aggravated Robbery and Conspiracy to commit Aggravated Robbery. There is no danger to the community. The District Attorney’s Office will conduct a review to determine if the Use of Deadly Force was justified.
