On Monday, September 25, 2023, at 1:16 AM the Colorado Springs Police Department Communications Center received a report of a shooting. The reporting party called to say she was about to be attacked by a male she just met so she shot him before leaving the scene.

Officers were able to contact the reporting party in her vehicle at a local hospital. Based on further information she provided officers located a deceased male in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 6900 block of Alpine Currant View.

Detectives from the Violent Crimes Homicide Unit responded and assumed responsibility for the investigation. The reporting party was interviewed and released pending further investigation.

On Tuesday, September 26, 2023, The El Paso County Coroner’s Office completed the autopsy of the deceased male, who has been identified as 26-year-old Kymir Williamson, a resident of Colorado Springs. While the Coroner’s Office will determine the official cause and manner of death, Mr. Williamson’s death is being investigated as a homicide.

This is the 24th homicide in the city of Colorado Springs in 2023. At this time last year, there were 36 homicides investigated. A photo of the victim, located below, has been provided by his family.
