In support of Small Business Saturday, all City-owned parking garages, lots and meters will be free on Thursday, Nov. 28 to Saturday, Nov. 30 in the Downtown and Old Colorado City areas.
The City will place hoods over meters that are free in the downtown area. This includes the Downtown area on Tejon Street from Cache La Poudre Street to Rio Grande Street, and the associated side streets within one block of Tejon. The City-owned parking garages at South Nevada Street/Colorado Avenue, Kiowa Street/Nevada, and Cascade Avenue/Bijou Street are also free.
During the same time in Old Colorado City, all parking meters are free, as well as surface lots on West Cucharras Street, West Pikes Peak Avenue, and the alley lot off West Colorado Avenue.
“We want to encourage residents and visitors alike to visit Downtown Colorado Springs and Old Colorado City to support our wide variety of small businesses during this holiday week,” said Richard Mulledy, Public Works Director who also oversees the City’s parking enterprise. “We’re proud to work with our stakeholders in Old Colorado City and the Downtown Partnership to offer these parking specials in support of Small Business Saturday.”
“We’re glad to be partnering with the city to support our Downtown businesses on Small Business Saturday, the days leading up to it and all holiday season,” said Chelsea Gondeck, Director of Planning & Mobility for the Downtown Partnership. “This is a great opportunity for people to come out and see all that Downtown has to offer.”
Garages and surface lots continue their free parking promotion on Sundays through the end of the calendar year. The permanent changes for parking-meter enforcement are Monday-Saturday from 8 a.m.-8 p.m., and on Sundays from 1-8 p.m.
