While February marked a dip in passenger traffic at Colorado Springs Airport (COS), with 156,177 total passengers, a 9.4 percent decrease from February 2024, the airport remains focused on long-term growth and expanding capacity. Seat availability rose by 3.6 percent compared to last year, positioning COS for a strong 2025 as travel demand picks up in the spring and summer. The average load factor for the month was 68.5 percent, reflecting typical trends for early-year travel.

Notable airport updates

  • COS held a gate event for Allegiant Air in February celebrating their return of service to COS after eight years. The carrier offers nonstop flights to Phoenix/Mesa (AZA), Santa Ana/Orange County (SNA), and St. Petersburg/Tampa (PIE).   
  • Concourse gates 9-12 are now open! The Concourse Modernization project, ElevateCOS, successfully completed the first two phases and advancing into phase three.
  • The Lounge Colorado Springs, owned and operated by Global Lounge Network, is now open, providing an elevated passenger experience and accepting Priority Pass and Global Lounge Network card holders.
  • Hudson Nonstop is now open, providing a fast and efficient way for travelers to pick up their must-have items.
  • The new Federal Inspection Station (FIS) is scheduled to open in June 2025, in time for the new international flights.
  • Southwest Airlines will begin seasonal international service to Cancun (CUN) June 7, 2025 – August 2, 2025. Tickets are on sale now.
  • Southwest Airlines is set to begin year-round service to San Diego (SAN) on October 2, 2025. Tickets are on sale now. 

Nonstop Route Updates

Allegiant Air: Phoenix/Mesa (AZA), Santa Ana/Orange County (SNA), and St. Petersburg/Tampa (PIE) 

  • Twice weekly service to all three destinations
  • Phoenix/Mesa (AZA) is seasonal 

American Airlines: Dallas/Ft. Worth (DFW) and Chicago O’Hare (ORD) 

  • Six daily nonstop flights with easy connecting service across the U.S. and worldwide
  • Service to Chicago O’Hare (ORD) will begin on June 5, 2025 

Delta Air Lines: Atlanta (ATL), Salt Lake City (SLC), and Minneapolis/St. Paul (MSP) 

  • Twice daily nonstop service to Atlanta (ATL), except on Tuesdays and Wednesdays
  • Daily nonstop service to Salt Lake City (SLC), with an additional flight starting in July 2025
  • Seasonal service to Minneapolis/St. Paul (MSP) will resume June 2025 

Southwest Airlines: Baltimore/Washington (BWI), Chicago (MDW), Dallas (DAL), Denver (DEN), Houston (HOU), Las Vegas (LAS), Phoenix (PHX), San Diego (SAN), San Antonio (SAT), and Cancun, Mexico (CUN) 

  • Weekly nonstop seasonal service to Cancun, Mexico beginning June 7, 2025
  • Five times per week service to San Diego (SAN), beginning October 2, 2025.  
  • Daily nonstop to Baltimore/Washington (BWI)
  • Seasonal service San Antonio (SAT) on peak days in November, December, and January
  • Daily nonstop to Denver (DEN) with easy connections coast-to-coast
