UPDATE

On December 1, 2022, the Colorado Springs Police Department’s Violent Offender Fugitive Task Force arrested the suspect in this case.  He has been identified as 33-year-old Neil Montoya Jr., of Colorado Springs.  He has been charged with First Degree Murder.

PREVIOUS RELEASE

On Tuesday, November 29, 2022, the El Paso County Coroner’s Office completed the autopsy of the deceased victim, who has been identified as 34-year-old Sergio Garduno-Ramirez, a resident of Colorado Springs.  While the Coroner’s Office will determine the cause and manner of death, Mr. Garduno-Ramirez’s death is being investigated as a homicide.

Mr. Garduno-Ramirez’s death is the 50th homicide investigation in the City of Colorado Springs in 2022.  The Colorado Spring Police Department had investigated 40 homicides this time last year.

 

ORIGINAL RELEASE

On Saturday, November 26, 2022, at approximately 6:30PM, officers were dispatched to a disturbance at S. Nevada Ave and E. Las Vegas St. Upon arrival officers located a victim who was severely bleeding and unresponsive. Medical aid was provided, and the victim was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The Colorado Springs Police Department Homicide Unit responded and assumed the investigation.

Ultimately, El Paso County Coroner will determine the cause and manner of death, but at this time the death is being investigated as a homicide. The victim is an adult male. There have been no arrests made at this time.
